Hello! My name is Dalila. I’m a Software Engineer. I’m part of the ElenPAY team and this is: «One day with me»
💭 When and how did you decided you wanted to become a programmer?
At high shcool. I wanted to be an artist but I am not a talented person painting even tho I really enjoy it. So another thing that caught my attention at that time was building forums, blogs, etc. etc. At that point you think that is actually programming, it kinda is, but it’s far from what I start learning later at the university. Anyway, I just decided that I’d go into that rabbit hole.
🪄 What is the best advice you have ever been given and from whom?
In my previous company, during a retro 360, my team just told me that I was too perfectionist and I was always living in an ideal world. This somehow delayed my work a lot. Since then I try to have my feet on the ground and be more pragmatic.
🏆 What is your definition of success?
Good question. What is it?
🥱 What are your limits when programming? When you realize you shoukd go to sleep?
Usually I start go get stuck or things become to overhelming to me. Seems that nothing sticks naturally anymore and I feel my head really heavy.
🤫 What is the best kept secret in programming?
If I tell you, I’d have to kill you 🙂
💻 Can anyone be a programmer?
Yes.
☝️ What are the 3 most important things that non-programmers should know about programming?
It’s not only for nerds;
pretty similar to arquitecture;
it’s fun 🙂
🥷 As a programmer, what are some of the things people assume you know but don’t?
Classical fixing hardware. «Can you repair my computer?» blablabla. Also people assume that you are good at maths (I am, but I know lots of colleagues that don’t and they are still good programmers)
